This book is compiled and published by Nancy Locke Doane, and dedicated to her grandmother, Minnie Susan Decker, “who used this book second to the Bible in the raising of her twelve children.” It presents examples of how early pioneers handled their medical problems, but, cautions Doane, it is in no way to be construed for use as a substitute to modern medical techniques.
